Occupational First Aid Course (OFAC)

The Occupational First Aid Course (OFAC) is accredited by the Ministry of Manpower. This course includes CPR skills and the use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Participants practice assessing the situation and basic first aid for a wide range of workplace medical emergencies while awaiting professional help. The course also includes relevant information on the Workplace Safety and Health Act (WSHA) and the First aid regulations, and on topics such as Safety and Accident prevention.

The course will be conducted over 3 days. Recertification courses will be conducted over 2 days. There will be a theory and practical test. Participants will receive an OFAC certificate, valid for 2 years.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Enable companies/participants to meet the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act requirements for First Aid training.
  • Provide participants with the necessary knowledge in identifying and managing victims during an emergency.
  • Equip participants with the skills in rendering First Aid when accidents occur.
  • Activate Emergency Medical Services, perform CPR and apply the AED effectively and safely on victims to ensure optimal chances of survival.

MODE OF COURSE ASSESSMENT

  • Practical Assessment on CPR+AED and bandaging
  • Theory Assessment (MCQs)
  • 100% course attendance to be eligible for practical assessment

PRE-REQUISITES

  • Able to understand, read and write basic English.
  • Pregnant participants are discouraged from taking the CPR+AED practical sessions for safety reasons and will not be able to complete/pass OFAC.
  • Participants does not have any history of medical heart and lung conditions OR any physical disabilities OR problems such as joint or spinal injury.

COURSE DURATION

3 days (eligible for Skills-connect funding, to login to skillsconnect.gov.sg)

CERTIFICATION

Accredited by Ministry of Manpower (MOM& NRC), certificate will be valid for 2 years.
